Course Overview
This workshop explores the importance of effectively providing supportive and corrective feedback. Discussion points include most common scenarios for providing feedback, specific aspects to consider for evaluation when providing feedback, a suggested approach to providing feedback supportively, the importance of follow-up after giving feedback, and how to follow-up after giving feedback. By the end of this session, participants will have a better understanding of how to provide feedback supportively, along with the importance of follow-up after initial feedback has been provided.
Meet Your Instructor
Erin Christie
Erin Christie earned her PhD in Communication from Rutgers University in 2014. Erin has scholarly contributions including presenting many conference papers, receiving two top paper awards, and received an award for outstanding excellence in teaching. She specializes in translating the intellectual principles in her field to applied practice, and therefore enjoys communication skills coaching for various audiences. Erin advises two nationally award-winning competitive forensics teams at Rutgers, and most recently, has developed a Presentation Skills Tutoring Program in collaboration with the Rutgers Learning Center which launched in the Fall 2023.

This online course will be delivered via Zoom. Registrants will receive a link to access the course by 4:00 pm EDT on July 17, 2024.
On July 18, 2024, please log into class at 12:50 pm (10 minutes before the start time). The course will start promptly at 1:00 pm EDT.
Equipment you will need to access this training:
- A laptop or desktop computer or a tablet or smartphone that can support Zoom
- Cameras are not required, but are recommended for class participation and engagement
- Speakers and microphone are not necessary but highly recommended; a call in option is also available
