The 2022 Wells Fargo Championship PGA Tour event was recently held at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm in Potomac, MD. The annual event is typically held at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, NC, but had to be moved this year due to preparations to host the President’s Cup in September.
Tim Connolly, a 2005 graduate of the Rutgers Professional Golf Turf Management School, is the Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations at TPC Potomac. He spoke to our students during the Superintendents Panel last Winter and offered this tremendous volunteer opportunity for the upcoming event. Altogether, Mr. Connolly worked with more than 80 volunteers and staff members to ensure the event was a success.
Volunteers included Rutgers Turf alumnus Daniel Ryczek ’21, Assistant Superintendent at Washington Golf and Country Club in Arlington, VA, and current Rutgers Turf students John (Jeff) Nesbitt, Fall ’22, an intern at Washington Golf and Country Club in Arlington, VA, and Matthew Fountaine, Winter ’23, an intern at Trump National Golf Club in Washington, D.C.
Our congratulations to Tim Connolly, TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm, and the entire greens crew for executing such a successful event!
