Course Name: Recycling Collection Techniques

Time: 8:30 am – 3:30 pm (Check-in time: 8:00 am)
Location: Ralph Geiger Turfgrass Education Center, 20 Indyk-Engel Way, New Brunswick , NJ 08901 (directions & map to building). IMPORTANT: Parking is only available in the gravel lot behind the Office of Continuing Professional Education’s building (close to Ryders Lane). Course Overview
This class is part of the NJ Recycling Certification Series.
In this two-day course you will learn the techniques required to make and defend decisions regarding collection, develop the skills needed to understand how generation rates are computed, learn the “how-to’s” of waste and recycling contracting, and explore Heuristic routing.
During this class, the students will be divided into work groups, where the information presented will be applied to “real world” vehicle routing and collection problems. Special collection techniques and options for multi-family locations, schools, businesses, and other groups that receive special emphasis in NJ’s solid waste management plan will be highlighted.

If you are completing the NJ Recycling Certification Program in order to become a Certified Recycling Professional, you must take this course.
Meet Your Instructor
Dominic D’Altilio
Mr. D’Altilio has over 36 years of government experience serving as Ridgefield, NJ Councilperson, Chairman of the Police Committee, Environmental Commissioner, Essex County Solid Waste Advisory Council (SWAC) Chairman, Asst. Director of Public Works, Sanitation Superintendent and Recycling Coordinator, Chairman of NJDEP Reinvigorating Recycling Government Workgroup, and a participant in the Modernization Evaluation of the NJDEP Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Program. He is the author of “The Recycling Coordinator’s Primer.” He served for 14 years as the President of the Association of New Jersey Recyclers (ANJR) and is now a Board Member. He is the recipient of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection & Energy – Outstanding Achievement in Recycling (1992), Association of New Jersey Recyclers – President’s Award (1994), and Association of New Jersey Recyclers – Recycling Excellence Award (2001), among many other honors.

The Recycling Collection Techniques course is approved for 1.2 Rutgers CEUs, as well as the following credits from professional organizations.

NJ Certified Recycling Professionals (CRP): 12 Classroom Recertification Credits

No breakfast will be provided. Lunch will be available for pre-registered attendees only.
