Course Overview
In this course, instructor Mike Hartley will teach you how to diagnose and repair the most common problems of irrigation systems. You’ll work with the system’s components, and you’ll learn the best tools for every job. Mike will set aside time to answer questions about whatever is plaguing your system.

Meet Your Instructor
Mike Hartley

In 1986, after earning a degree in Architectural drafting, Mike went to work for Philadelphia Turf as a golf irrigation system designer. Three years later Mike moved to Golf Irrigation Sales for Eastern PA and four years after that Mike moved to the position of Irrigation Manager. The company changed to Turf Equipment and Supply in 2007 and the position title changed to Golf Irrigation Manager. In 2021, the position changed again to Golf Irrigation Manager for both Turf Equipment and Supply and Storr Tractor Company.
He has been the lead creator of curriculum and teaching instructor for the companies he has worked for since 1987. He has guest lectured on irrigation and pond water quality related topics at Penn State University, University of Maryland, and Delaware Valley University.
Mike was rewarded Toro’ highest honor of a Toro Master Salesman in 2019. He was a Toro National Blazer award winner in 2002 and has SCPS and CSE sales certifications. Mike has been a Certified Irrigation Designer since 1994 and a Certified Golf Course Auditor since 2011.
Mike has a passion to make the lives of people he interacts with brighter; this is evident from his candid humor and the care he shows each person he meets.
Mike and his wife Sheila have two adult sons, and a teenage special needs daughter. His personal interests are playing music (the upright bass and acoustic guitar), spending time outdoors, and spending time with family and arranging and playing music.

National Irrigation Association: This course is eligible for credits but students must apply on their own. There is no fee for the application.
Meals
No breakfast will be provided. Lunch will be available for pre-registered attendees only.

Campus Parking Policy
All visitors must register their vehicles ONLINE to park on campus. Please follow the guidelines below. Failure to comply with these policies may result in a citation.

- When you park on campus, be sure that your license plate is unobstructed and visible from the driving aisle.
- All Rutgers faculty/staff/students must use their regular Rutgers permit and park in the nearest lot assigned for their permit type.
