Course Overview
The New Jersey section of the American Water Works Association (AWWA-NJ) and the NJAES Office of Continuing Professional Education have teamed up to offer drinking water operators an excellent opportunity to refresh and review prior to taking state licensing exams.
Combining the Association of Boards of Certification’s (ABC) “need-to-know” guides with statistics from recent NJDEP exams and a wealth of professional, real-life experience from our presenters, this course will give you the confidence to conquer the “rough spots” on licensing exams or the “tough spots” faced daily in the workplace.
This fully live on-line course consists of three full days with presentations that focus on areas of concern from recent past exams. The best and brightest from across the NJ water industry will be participating.
To enhance the learning experience, attendees are encouraged to make note of specific questions they may have on exam-related materials and submit them for discussion and/or assistance during several interactive Q&A sessions that will be included in the agenda prior to the each session (instructions on this process will be provided to registrants). Remember – if you have a question, someone else probably has it as well! We strongly encourage all attendees to have microphone access on their computer or other device to facilitate the asking of questions and group interactions during the course of the program.
Important Note: If you are taking this course to fulfill the NJDEP requirement for a refresher course prior to an exam re-take, you must attend all three (3) days. If you are only seeking Training Contact Hours (TCH’s) for your T, W, or VSWS license, you can attend one, two or all three days.
Featured Topics
- Water Treatment Techniques
- Pumps/Chemical Feeds
- Testing/Sampling Procedures and Protocols
- Facility and Equipment Safety
- Water Quality Regulations
- Math and its Applications throughout the Workplace
- Valves/Hydrants/Meters
- Electrical Safety and Maintenance
Who Should Attend?
If you have failed a water licensing exam three times (T, W, or VSWS), under the NJDEP licensing regulations you are required to take a refresher or review class prior to taking the exam again. This course will fulfill that requirement. Are you currently licensed and planning to take a higher level exam in the future? Do you just feel a bit “rusty” and want to gain back your edge when it comes to day-to-day operational knowledge? Whichever category you fall into, this is the course for you! Past participants have included:
- Civil Engineers
- DPW Superintendents
- Laboratory Supervisors
- Municipal Engineers
- Safety Coordinators
- Senior Maintenance Repairers
- Superintendents of Distribution Construction
- Utility Foremen
- Water Plant Treatment Operators
- Water Quality Technicians
