Course Overview
Succession planning is an essential part of the business planning process that ensures that individuals are continually developed to step into key roles in a company. Operations at drinking water and wastewater utilities across the country – and in New Jersey especially – are continually hampered by a lack of qualified candidates to replace those who are retiring. This is a critical situation that can put the future continuity and performance of the utility at risk. As a manager, supervisor, or individual contributor who aspires to advance in the field of water, wastewater, or a related industry, you should recognize the value of succession planning and know how it works.
This one-day course will introduce you to succession planning: what it entails, what the development component means for you and any staff who report to you, and what to do when succession planning identifies gaps in a company’s available talent. Through small group discussions and entertaining interactive exercises, you will acquire tools for taking control of your professional development, developing others, and creating a strategy for making sure future operational needs are met and secure!
