Schedule and Topics
Session One, April 17 – Priorities, Planning, and Preparedness
These sessions will introduce the Department’s goals for 2024 and highlight some of the critical work that is being done in response to the many challenges facing our water systems in the future. Topics will include emergency response efforts, water system resilience, distribution system optimization, the reorganization of NJDEP Compliance & Enforcement, and more.
Session Two, April 24 – Let’s Talk Lead
The USEPA recently proposed significant improvements to the Lead and Copper Rule (LCR) to continue the goals of public health protection. These improvements come on the heels of NJ legislation requiring the replacement of all lead service lines within 10 years. These sessions will discuss the LCR in detail and ensure water systems are equipped with an understanding of all the regulations surrounding lead and copper.
Session Three, May 1 – All You Need to Know about Upcoming Regulations (PFAS, CCRs, Licensed Operator Rule and More!)
PFAS continues to be a huge area of focus in 2024 as the Department looks towards the finalization of EPA’s proposed MCL and the increasing cost of treatment. With other rules on the horizon, this session will provide an overview and cover ways that water systems can be engaged in implementation to ensure public health protection for 2024.
