Unconscious Bias Training for an Equitable, Inclusive Workplace
This employee training and development course video preview introduces presenter Baseemah Ismail and the power of unconscious biases in framing our perspectives of the world. Using the example of birth order, she engages the group to discuss bias and then highlights the importance of addressing unconscious bias in the workplace, hiring practices, and company culture. Baseemah explains how bias can create unfair advantages, exclusion, and disparate treatment among employees.
The full version of this class will expose learners to their unconscious biases, provide tools to adjust automatic patterns of thinking, and ultimately highlight one’s awareness of implicit bias. It also covers an in-depth conversation about diversity and exclusion in order to help attendees avoid discriminatory behaviors and become more knowledgeable about the laws that protect employees in the workplace. Micro-inequities, increasing objectivity, navigating inappropriate workplace behaviors, and non-verbal communication are additional topics presented in this course.
